It's always joyful when you not only hear about repeated sightings of a scarce bird - you get to see and photograph it too! This particular shrike was near the 'Y' Martello tower between Bawdsey and Hollesley and it was being very obliging:
If only birding could always feature this obliging a bird ..... but then I suspect the challenge is good for us!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

I also saw these beauties:
A beautiful whinchat. This is one of only three photos I got of it before it flew off.
One of the best things about this time of year is seeing birds like whinchats and wheatears.
This one was particularly obliging, something I'm definitely not used to!
Finishing with a pied wagtail - not a rarity but too adorable to leave out.
Kind regards, Ann
