I was driving through North Yorks visiting my son at university when I took a wrong turn and had to turn around in a farm track entrance somewhere west of Scarborough. and as I checked my mirror there was a Tree Sparrow feeding a juvenile on the fence :)

My surprise visitor returned and this time revealed a bit more of herself (?).
Not sure if this a statement of what she thinks of my peanuts.
They are quite common in the Thames valley just west of London but they seem to be spreading further west. I've seen them flying over but I've never had one in the garden. Not sure if this is good news as I've heard they can be quite destructive especially to fruit crops.
