First chick has hatched Spot the fluffball.
I just used your link and was baffled as all I could make out was an empty nest. Then the chick started moving its head up and down, brilliant.
Excuse my total ignorance but do the parents leave it alone overnight? Surely it would die of cold?
Thanks very much for the link, I was very excited when I finally spotted it moving.
Kind regards Jane.
That is so cool :)
Cheers

Hi Jef
The mother had probably just flown to stretch her wings or take a dip in the lake. They are never left alone at night or for any long period of time. There is always one or the other around. Probably changing shifts!
Thanks JudiM.
Unfortunately I had to go to bed, so could not wait to see the mother. I hope to have time to have another look today.
I really must visit the RSPB site, as I only live a few miles away!
2nd chick arrived Sunday 30 may.
