I was not sure where to post this so I hope this is OK
I am very excited because we are going away for a long weekend tomorrow, to Northumbria. We have booked a cottage in Seahouses and plan to visit the Farne Islands so I hope to see loads of Puffins and other wildlife. I am taking my camera, of course, so will post any good photos on my return.
Has anyone been to the Farne Islands? I would love to hear of your experiences.
I must go and clean all my bird feeders and refill them, put loads of nuts around the garden for the badger and clean out the tadpoles tank and boil some lettuce for them! Then I can start getting our stuff ready.
P.S. I really haven't ever seen a Puffin...........................................................................................yet!
Kind regards Jane.
Hi Jef - I can feel your excitement! They are really worth waiting for - we used to go to South Stack on Anglesey during the breeding season to watch them - fantastic. We took our son there when he was quite small and when he saw the Guilemotts he shouted 'Penguins mum!' Hope you enjoy yourself.
Hi Jef,
You will have a wonderful time - it is GORGEOUS up there, and you should see puffins and lots of other different birds. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures - good, bad or indifferent!
We were at South Stack in Anglesey a couple of weeks ago - beautiful, but I didn't see any puffins. They were too far away for my bins and camera.
Cheers, Linda.

jef, wear a hat if you go on boat trip becos the terns tend to attack you if you go near the nests as they are ground nesters ,i took an umbrella which realy served the purpose lol. have a brilliant time. we will be in scotland on saturday for a week then stopping off at seahouses on way home for a boat trip we booked a cottage in beadnell...
birdwatchers heaven is 24/7
Thank you all so much, you have made me look forward to it even more now.
Al, I hope the sea is relatively calm. I am not seasick but I am a bit of a coward. Love the idea of providing my own fish supper.
MarJus, I hope you see Puffins in 2 weeks. Several friends have been to Mull and say it has fantastic wildlife.
Brenda, Thank you so much, I am sure I will have a great time.
Lucybob... "Penguins Mum" Aaaaaaw thats brilliant.
Piekins I never thought about terns. You have reminded me, I saw a TV programme where the presenter was attacked. Excellent, that is something else that I've never experienced............but I'll remember the hat! Have a lovely time in Scotland.
Sparrow, Thank you, I'm sure I will find it Gorgeous. I went to Anglesey once, but like you, I din't see any Puffins. Your Starling pictures with captions are fantastic. I really enjoyed reading them thank you.

Thank you so much for that link, it was excellent. There were some amazing photos, also Sparrow mentioned about the wildflowers and insects in the area which I will also enjoy, I can't wait for tomorrow.
It was so kind of you to take the trouble to look for that post, I really do appreciate it, thank you again.
I hope you do get to go again in the near future.
