Another finch at no. 41

I don't believe this, and maybe you won't because I didn't get a photo, but I had a bullfinch on my feeder this morning. I have never, ever, seen one, anywhere. I could tell she was a bullfinch by her size and shape, but the colouring was wrong. Having looked her up, she is a female. Sadly, I was speaking on the phone when she arrived, which is why there is no photo, although my daughter must have wondered why I was shouting OMG down the phone! There is definitely something in my garden attracting finches and deterring tits! She perched on the sunflower hearts for less than a minute and then was gone. Fingers crossed she returns.

Cheers, Linda.

  • Hi Paul,

    Sadly, she hasn't been back as far as I know. In fact almost all my finch collection has moved on. Even my goldies have done a bunk. Faithless creatures!!!!

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Where's the loyalty thesedays eh?

    At least you still have your  feathered babies, lol

  • My Chaffinches did a bunk with my Goldie, not seen them for ages.

    There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.

    Hi Sparrow

    Oh dear, I am sure that your finches will be back before you know it.  I sometimes think it is weather dependent if finches use your feeders.  It was a dull old day her and there seemed to be a lack of birds all around here {sad}

    Dave and I are buying a second Nyjer Feeders this weekend to hang from our washing line next to our fat coconut/fat cake.  It will give a chance for some photographs I hope {big smile}

    The Nyjer Feeder at the back of our garden is being well used by Goldfinches, and I do not want to move it just incase we lose the Goldfinches feeding from it at the moment - the Nyjer seed is going down at a rate of knots at the moment.

    So feeder no 2 coming into our garden area now

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave
