It's heartbreaking - and you don't want to know what I think of the bloke in the Irish Republic who wants to declare open season on them. So many perceptions need to be changed - drastically.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
It's a very sad situation to see England about to lose such an iconic species. People clamour about saving species in foreign countries while ignoring those disappearing in our own countries!

Saw this in our local "Yorkshire Post",so Hen Harrier is now extinct in England as a breeding bird,little doubt as to where we point the finger
It dos worry me when we see odd wintering birds n our local recording area on the Eastern edge of the Dales,what terrible fate awaits them.
