Apologies if this is a duplicate post for some, but I am never too sure if the Newport Wetlands posts appear in the community home page if you have not added the page to you favourites.

RSPB Cymru have just put Iolo's speech up on the We Love Wales section of these pages. Please, please take time to watch it .. it is simply dripping with emotion and passion and a lot of anger! It was one of the best addresses I have ever been witness too ..

He walked off stage and stood next to me, I felt compelled to shake his hand ... he almost crushed mine .. fair to say he was fairly fired up coming off the stage! ;o)
Coincidentally my blog on the evening went up this morning ...

Ant, I wish I was there. I have always respected Iolo but with that commitment, that passion there must be a place for another Minister for the Environment and one that does it and not pretends they do.

Wow, that was a passionate and emotional speech. It brought tears to my eyes. I'll bet it didn't go down well with the men in grey suits though. We could do with someone like Iolo in a position of power but I suspect he would find it too frustrating dealing with all the bureaucrats.

I have just e-mailed my local member of parliament urging her to read the State of Nature report , and also to listen to Iolo William's speech. I have also asked her to use her position to do whatever she can to ensure the government makes the changes , which only they can make , that can halt the decline in our wildlife.
I hope others will contact their MPs as well.

Just listened to both speeches. Iolo is a passionate advocate of nature conservation for sure. I was very moved by his speech, and can only agree, we HAVE to stop this decline. It is NEVER too late to make changes. The thought of their being no nature for future generations, is beyond imagination. Shout, and be heard, contact you local M P a s a p.
Take care all, Stich.
