Can anyone identify this little bird?

It was in a woodland area by a reservoir on 29.3.20. A bit bigger than a robin. It flew just ahead of me landing on stone wall, ground and boggy ground by the reservoir. When it flew, I could see 2 vertical white lines in its tail. Wondered if it’s a type of finch but not been able to identify it.

I agree with Hazel, Female Chaffinch for sure. That white bar across the middle of the wing and the downward bar forming a T is diagnostic.
