Identify this Bird of prey and a finch

I’m not sure on the finch. I was thinking Buzzard for the bird of prey but it’s markings look a lot more distinct than I’m used to seeing with buzzards.

Hi James, I would say top photo is a Common Buzzard and the bottom photo is of a lovely Brambling which is possibly a male

Hi James, totally agree with Hazels id's and definitely a male Brambling, a nice bird to find. I see quite a few buzzards around my patch and have one site where I've seen just a couple of Bramling this year where as last year same site saw 40/50 of them.
