As I'm sure you know, David, it's a Red-knobbed Coot. An unusual looking bird. I've only seen it once and that was in the Coto Doñana.

Hi Tony, you are right, it ts a really difficult to see bird in general but there is nature reserve in Southern Spain where there are many chances of watching them, the Suarez's Pond Reserve which was created trying to recoverd this threatened species.
