Taken on the scrape at Minsmere.
Apparently, according to the RSPB at Minsmere, my picture is a Scaup. There have been several sightings in the area, which is unusual for this time of year. (In my RSPB guide it says they are very similar to Tufted duck.)

Looks like a Juvenile Tufted Duck. Juveniles have small amounts of whitish colour around the base of the bill, and it looks as if you just see a little bump on the back of the head in the 2nd picture.
Hi Bob, thanks. I can see the juvenile Little Grebe, but I am not certain why Tufted Duck, the bill seems the wrong colour and the white patch is not mentioned in my book. You may be right as I know there are always variations! Thanks David
