Bird identification - rail?

This bird seen in our wooded area 5th June 2016. Can you identify? We think it looks like a plumbeous rail but they don't live here!
  • Sorry I can't help but it doesn't look like a rail to me. The colour of the head, the shape of the tail (rails have their tails tilting upwards) and I think I see tufts around the back of the head too? What was the size of this bird?

    Looking at the small picture on a tablet I would go for Water Rail,may look better on the laptop.
