It's well overdue for starting. This is the link to last years thread
Butterflies and Moths 2023
There haven't been a lot of butterflies around here this year so far. The earliest was a fresh Red Admiral on the 3rd of january
Since then I've seen a Speckled Wood & Peacock. There have been Brimstone's about but I haven't seen them. Plenty of time left in the year to go chasing butterflies.
Best wishes

Good to see. We don't get Holly Blue or Green Hairstreaks around here ... . At least I think that's what they are ...
The green-y one is a Brimstone BD, if you were looking at Mr Kes's lovely last set
Last year I spotted a couple (need to scroll quite a long way down lol)
Thank you PB, you are of course correct ...
Thanks Wendy. It does take a bit of walking about to find them but they seem to like the rides and along the roadsides where the wild flowers are growing.
Thanks BD. That's interesting because I thought Holly Blue was common all over. Yes Brimstone as PB wrote. I wish it was Green Hairstreak. I don't think we get them around here. Hoping to see more species emerge. Nice warm sunny day. But I think it is too early to see other species. But getting evet closer.
Kind words PB. Thanks for viewing.
Managed a few butterflies today myself. The first ones I have seen this season. It was a nice warm sunny day today ... . Long may it continue!

Thanks William ... . Lovely and sunny here today and yesterday. It's my birthday today too - sun shines on the righteous ... 'ang on it's clouding over ... . BTW just call me BD everyone else does. Billy has a waggy tail ...
Well done BD....plenty orange tip about here but not much else ;-)
