Butterflies & Moths 2020

Have been lucky enough to have several Brimstones to moth traps over a few years but not set up yet this year regularly due to lack of space ... onky seen two ST's so far but weather not good either heatwave or gales & rain!

I thought moths only came out at night Wendy and spent about 20 mins looking at butterflies trying to identify it...stupid me!

Not all moths are night fliers Linda, we have some day ones too! I caught a Silver Y moth which was in my lounge yesterday evening, mid-air catch in a plastic pot with cardboard ready to cover! Other half was quite impressed! Lol Took it outside & parked it on Red Valerian, never even got a pic!

Hi Russ, great photos & your garden Tiger looks like a Scarlet Tiger to me, a lot more unusual I'd say (they are like hens teeth here).

My latest incumbent courtesy of my Niece who found it near her Pellitory-of-the-wall ... not the famous Bloxworth Snout larva though ... think it's a Red Admiral one, they also inhabit the aforementioned herb plus common Nettle
