Beautiful Butterflies 2019

I remember seeing a male Green-veined white and thinking it was a Black-veined one, until I read they were extinct over here. I'll take your word that the markings are unusual on those Fritillaries ... I don't think I'm likely to see them enough to get that familiar with them!

Another Small Copper, this one from Loch Leven.

The latest spell of good weather has certainly brought the butterflies out locally. Our most numerous seems to be the Orange Tip which we also found a lot of last week on our visit to Dumfries and Galloway even though it was cooler up there.

A new butterfly for me on holiday, I didn't ID it till I got home,

appropiately called "Green-underside blue". It certainly was.

Oooh where did you find this one Hazel? Just looked at my chart and can't find one here in Britain. Though that could mean nothing - I'm usually wrong:-)

It was a real thrill to find what it was, especially as I chased it all over the place trying to get a photo! It was on the île d'Oléron just off the coast of Charente Maritime, about 1,5 hrs drive & a lovely spot for a few days break.

Pleased to hear you had a good time H with the bonus butterfly too, not forgetting moth species you posted!
