Better late than never, I'm just starting this off with this little beetle that came in from the cold recently, I don't know what it is yet
I think it may have been injured when I scraped it off my neck!!
THIS is a link to old thread.
Best wishes

Chimney Sweeper Moth taken on top of Warton Crag a few years ago.
Ooh don't ask me about grasshoppers T.J. I tried & failed & went down the moth road instead. I don't really like handling them either! They are very interesting though.
EDIT Crossed posts, lovely moth James!
Took this a few years ago and I thought it was a XXX if you took it what would you think it was.
It would depend on it's size & where I was, but at a guess I'd go for Silver Studded Blue, although I've never seen one.
It was not big about an inch if mem serves me right and it was taken on the coast at Porthleven Cornwall Hazel.
Holly Blue ?

Are there sand-dunes there? When?
According to the Exif data Jim's photo was taken on the 10th June 2010.
I've never seen one but it does look a good fit for a Silver-studded Blue with its characteristic broad black border on the upper wings.
See here: butterfly-conservation.org/.../silver-studded-blue.html
Cornwall does appear to be one of its hot spots

It's all I can come up with too T.J, & ticks the boxes, I wonder if James is hinting at a rare ssp?
