You may have seen these tiny little orange flies yourself, usually around the Spring/Summer evenings. Although I have taken Macro pictures of these before I couldn’t resist taking another when it landed near by me awhile I was sat relaxing on the balcony ( yep, it actually stopped raining last week !) As I had my camera with me I thought, “why not, another wont hurt” and here is the result, its not as good as some of my others, but it didn’t sit still long enough for me to snap any more.
Welcome back coldeb, what fantastic detail!

Never seen one I don't think. Great detail, love the eye ...
Nicely done and a good pic.
Many Thanks Wendy, there hasn’t been much about to photograph unfortunately, due to the weather .. but we had a brief respite last week, so I managed to snap a few things. This one just came to me, as nature does sometimes.
Hi Billy, they are actually quite common throughout the U.K, but they are incredibly small and so very easy to miss , you’ll more likely find them sitting on leaves and plants during the evening’s, just look for little orange spots. This one just came to me, as nature does sometimes. The eye’s are not quite as luminous as in the pic shows though, it was reflecting the light from the chrome banister I think , but the eyes on them are probably the most noticeable thing you first see when you do spot them.
amazing detail, thanks for sharing this little critter
