Thanks deballen. I've been watching that puffling too - (I'll call him Petey too - so far I've known him as the audubon pompom!) he's a bit younger than peerie - but looking very well cared for. I've also been watching the Maine ospreys who've had a very hot time of it bless them. Thanks again....
Hi OldWeather2! Someone on the Explore.org forum named him Petey and the Audubon came on and agreed to name him that. Now, what if Petey is a girl? I do like your Pompom name.
deballen - hello - if girl just rename 'Petra'
Hi Wendy - Somone else offered up 'Petunia' :)
HI deballen and Wendy...well all I can say is it'll take a very lucky webcam shot for us to ever know whether it's Petey or Petunia! That's brought a smile to my face for the first time in 10 hours. :-) Peerie puffling, poor sweetie, is on the front page of the Shetland Daily newspaper (online version at the moment).
Another awful day -20th July - one of the parents sat sadly by peerie watching for any signs of life.
Oh no....something major has happened to Petey...burrow cam is off and the world is waiting yet again...but it doesn't sound good.
