Hi,
I think the Shetland Islands are one of the best places in the UK to visit and not just for wildlife.
I may be biased as I spent 18 months there during my time in the RAF - on the Isle of Unst in 1979/80. But I did go back for a visit in July, 2008 and was quite amazed at the changes! Not only the, now defunct, Base but to the areas of Wildlife. And they even had a new Brewery!
The most memorable things for me were the Puffins, especially outside Sumbergh Airport, and the Gannets in Hermaness. But I also remember the people as being as friendly as ever.
We even met Simon King up there! (oops, luvvie alert!).
I will try to visit again, but meanwhile I will try and post some photo efforts while there.

Hi GrahamC
Thanks for posting the pictures. I hope you've been able to watch the Simon King's Shetland Diaries series. It shows of Shetland so wonderfully.
As well as our own website, www.shetland.org.uk is useful. You can keep an eye on webcams, including one at Sumburgh Head.
Best wishesHelen
