Today was the first time my husband and I have been to Rainham Marshes and we had such a lovely day. Its so peaceful and beautiful and we were very lucky to see lots of wildlife, even though we forgot the binoculars!! We saw a water vole, water shrew, four frogs, a newt, damsal dragonflies, heron, little grebes with chicks, coots with young and one feeding its baby fish from the water (incredible sight!), fish, a variety of insects, lizard, stork, lapwings, baby calves (very cute!!), swans with cygnets and many other birds. We can't wait to come back and cannot recommend the nature reserve enough :-D
Next time we will make sure we remember the binoculars and camera!!
Glad you enjoyed your day - I've been to Rainham too and you're right - it's a lovely place. It's also Shane's local patch so he might be able to give you a few tips for your next visit....
Best wishes, Graham

Hi Graham and Shane,
Thank you for the replies. We would definitely be interested in meeting up and learning more about the reserve. Thank you. We hope to visit again sometime in the next few weekends, so I will get in contact then.
:-D
Glad you had a great day out on the reserve. If you do forget your bins in the future, do ask at reception as they have ones to hire for only £2 all day. They are the RSPB Puffins, which are designed to appeal to children, but are fab for adults too. Can't go wrong for £2!
See you again soon!
Ahh that's excellent news. Thank you Mel :-D
