If I add a question to my pictures eg for identification, how can I get answers. I seem to just upload them to My Gallery, but I don't know how to blog or widen the audience. (Mine might not be as brilliant as some but I am a keen learner!)

To add photos to a message you're writing on a forum thread, you need to click 'Use rich formatting' on the bottom right of the message box - that gives you more options for composing your message, including a photo uploader. PS - I have had a look through your gallery and commented on the pics that needed identifying :) The way this community is set up means that there's no obvious notification when someone posts a photo in their gallery, so the galleries tend to get overlooked. You are better off using the forums, like this one: www.rspb.org.uk/.../13609.aspx for general wildlife conversations, and this one: www.rspb.org.uk/.../2542.aspx for general chit-chat :) The layout is rather confusing!
