Wotisit?

Not the mallards, the small wader beyond them :)

It looked brown and pale grey to me (not the alarming grey of the water rail). Wondered if it was a snipe looking grey in the distance?

  • Hi Cath,

    From what I can see of the bird - trace of head barring, grey belly - stripy spotting on breast, and the location - in a reedbed would all be OK for snipe

    ::)

    Best regards

  • Thanks, went back to look in R4 again this morning and there were two snipes. I managed to get a more recognisable blobby photo of one of them. :)

  • Just the place for a snipe :)

    "Just the place for a Snark!" the Bellman cried,
    As he landed his crew with care;
    Supporting each man on the top of the tide
    By a finger entwined in his hair.

    "Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:
    That alone should encourage the crew.
    Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:
    What I tell you three times is true."
