Roadworks and road closures

Please note that there are several sets of roadworks currently in place or planned in the Minsmere area, so allow a bit more time than usual if you are visiting us of the next few weeks.

  • The access road from Eastbridge is CLOSED for two weeks from today. There is a diversion in place via Theberton, Middleton and Westleton.
  • The recommended access to Minsmere at all times is via Westleton, but the Westleton to Dunwich is due to have roadworks starting later this month too. We are expecting this road to be closed for several days in early May, but are awaiting confirmation of the exact dates. A signed diversion will be in place (route to be confirmed).
  • If you are visiting from the north, there are also traffic lights on the A12 at Blythburgh this week that are causing minor delays.

Please note that Minsmere will remain open at all times during this work.

Parents
  • If you are visiting Minsmere this week and planning to arrive for dawn or stay till late, please note that the A12 at Blythburgh is due to be CLOSED completely overnight for five nights from today. The closure will be in place from 7 pm to 5 am. This will involve a long detour, so allow plenty of time.

  • Just as long as it's all done by the time Springwatch starts.....is that why they're piling in now?

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • No - it's simply that the road at Eastbridge and the A12 were both collapsing and in urgent need of repair

  • LATEST UPDATES

The A12 and the Eastbridge access road are now fully open. However, the Westleton to Dunwich road is now closed until 20 May. There is a signed diversion which will add about 15 minutes to your journey. This diversion is north from Westleton along the B1125 to Dunwich Fiveways junction, then right towards Dunwich. Go through Dunwich and back out on the Westleton road, past the National Trust turning, until you reach the Minsmere access road junction again at the road closure barriers.

Please note that if arriving from the north, via Blythburgh, you are best to turn left at the first Dunwich junction (Dunwich Fiveways) and then follow the signed diversion route (there is no diversion sign at this junction if arriving from Blythburgh direction.)
