The 2012 Loch Garten season started with disappointments. Then we lost the baby in traumatic circumstances. Then in October we lost the second of this year’s chicks, Alba.
So now in November we look forward to following the adventures of our one surviving tracked LG youngster, Caledonia. She apparently left home to move to the city, where she has been exploring city life. Will she become a city girl or will she eventually pack up and move on to Africa? They say you can take the girl out of country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl. Many hope she will stay in Spain. We shall see.
We will be following other tagged UK osprey as well as other birds and wildlife as interesting nests or stories become available.
Also during November we hope to have another Music Night and our third StreetWalk.

Looking back, I should have said Valc's and B&B"s words. They sort of merged there.
June there is a lot of unanswered questions and Ceulan must be the the most loved Osprey this year along with Blue 44 who could be and hope not Lady's last. All the young are special and a difficult life they are born into. Caledonia is stunning and I always commented on how beautiful she is.
I was stunned by the news on Alba as I was convinced she would make it back.

Remember I said after Bynack I will not get attached again and Dulas I secretly kept quiet about.
It is worse as Ceulan, Blue 44 and Caledonia this year and all of them. 09 I admired so much, that was shocking news.
I am just going to accept it is in my make-up and no point trying to deny it or change :) I just care too much.
June - Thank you for posting that lovely picture of Ceulan, that was a strange day. I cried buckets when it rained and rained, the first chick died, and it looked like the second had also -then a miracle, the tears turned into disbelief at what I saw on the screen, a chick being fed, at first I thought they were screening old footage, but it was real. Whatever the outcome for Ceulan, Dyfi did all that could possibly be done to give Ceulan the chance he deserved!

B&B - I have to agree with you, I get far too attached to the birds, I know it's wrong but I can't help it. This year though, I watched the young fledge with a heavy heart, I am not as full of hope as I was in previous years, and sadly I'm not expecting to see any of them again. I so hope I am wrong, surely we are due a break, and will see at least one of our precious chicks return!
Starling it is not wrong, we watch them hatch from the Egg and fledge and then they are tracked of course we and some will be devastated to learn of their demise.
Yes wild animals but they are not wild if they are tracked.
Not going there and ignore friend. I was only trying to say some of us will always get attached and nothing wrong with that and anyone that disagrees that is their oppinion,
I have a Robin that does migrate and I call it my "European Robin" I put mealworms under the hedge for him. He sings at dusk and I love hearing it. He sings even better when I put food in what was his special place. The problem is the Starlngs now have found out. He gets his early feed so happy lol
