So, we now enter August knowing that we will only have the pleasure of watching this beautiful family all together for a limited number of weeks.
Both LP8 and LR0 have transformed into two strong, independent individuals. Their attentive parents have continued to provide for and nurture them and this, in turn, has given the juveniles a basis to continue their growth into full adulthood, wherever they decide to settle during the next couple of years.
Last season, NC0 began her southerly migration on the 22nd August; Laddie on the 25th (these dates were their last webcam sightings). We can only hope that all of the 2022 family have safe, unhindered journeys to warmer climes, aided by fair winds as well as an abundance of fish along the way, and that we will welcome Laddie and NC0 back to this stunning Loch of the Lowes location in the spring of 2023.

  • Fish from Laddie at 20:22

LP8 got to the fish first

LR0 dived in to grab it

LP8 turned around with the fish

    LR0 headed over to LP8

Laddie flapped his wings and lifted himself out of the way while a brief tug-o-fish went on

    LR0 got the fish

  • 20:52 Thirty minutes after the fish had been delivered, LR0 had eaten it all

He left the nest at 20:54

    21:12 LP8 waiting very quietly

  • LR0 seems to be winning the recent tug-o-fish battles Sandra. Do you think there’s much difference in size between the youngsters now?

    Hi Glider,

The last couple of tug-o-fish battles that LR0 has won, I think, has been down to having a longer amount of time between its meals. The past couple of days, after eating a fair amount of breakfish, he's been away from the nest for a many hours. Hunger probably gives him the drive to put more 'attack' into gaining a fish. They do, however, appear to be more or less the same size IMO.

Just to let you know, I watched the Countryfile programme on iPlayer - what a lucky presenter she was to see the Ospreys whose nest was situated on that beautiful estate! Thank you Hugging

  • 21:37 LR0 flapped down from the cam post (from where he was calling) to the perch and wandered over to LP8

  • 21:57 LP8 gave up with the fish and left the nest almost immediately leaving the remainder of it behind. LR0 took over (and probably couldn't believe his luck!)

LP8's flight to the birch, NC0 (more than likely) already on a branch there

LP8 landed on the far left branch of the birch

LR0 picked up the fish and tucked in

22:16ish LR0 was still eating after night cam came on and, after having all that he'd wanted, left the remainder of the fish on the nest before flying off

That'll be a nice early breakfish for one of the family in the morning!

  • Morning all,

LP8 was already on the perch when LR0 arrived at 4:57. He wandered over to the fish piece and continued where he had left off last night

LR0 walked away from the fish piece and shortly after, left the nest. LP8 found the tail end of the fish

  • 6:54 A headless fish from Laddie to NC0 was alone on the nest.

LP8 arrived to take it from her. NC0 didn't give it up easily and, after making a few attempts, LP8 succeeded to take it

7:16 LR0 waiting its turn while LP8 eats. NC0 on the perch

  • 7:39 Just the tail end of the fish remaining now.
