So, we now enter August knowing that we will only have the pleasure of watching this beautiful family all together for a limited number of weeks.Both LP8 and LR0 have transformed into two strong, independent individuals. Their attentive parents have continued to provide for and nurture them and this, in turn, has given the juveniles a basis to continue their growth into full adulthood, wherever they decide to settle during the next couple of years.Last season, NC0 began her southerly migration on the 22nd August; Laddie on the 25th (these dates were their last webcam sightings). We can only hope that all of the 2022 family have safe, unhindered journeys to warmer climes, aided by fair winds as well as an abundance of fish along the way, and that we will welcome Laddie and NC0 back to this stunning Loch of the Lowes location in the spring of 2023.

15.6.22: At 23 days old, chick #3 passed away
27.6.22: Our osprey chicks have been ringed! (Genders not able to be positively determined, ? both males)
Chick #1: LP8 (39 days old) - wing measurement = 360mm, weight = 1.5kg
Chick #2: LR0 (37 days old) - wing measurement = 315mm, weight = 1.44kg
Fledge dates: LP8 - 13.7.22 (10:06) 55 days old LR0 - 15.7.22 (13:55) 55 days old
Migration/Last Seen dates: NC0 - 11.8.22 Laddie - 26.8.22 LP8 (100 do) and LR0 (98 do) - 27.8.22

LR0 started his breakfast at 8:21, LP8 had stepped away
LR0 continued to eat until 9:15ish when, after making some contact calls, flew off with the fish
9:45 It has been ENS since.

There was a very large, headless fish delivery from Laddie at 15:49. LR0 was on the perch. LP8, who was on the nest, was ready to take it from him.
LP8 flew off with the fish at 16:10
LR0 made a dive from the birch at 19:27ish. He had landed on NC0's favourite perch after leaving the nest at 19:23

And away
He carried on flying to the right and was lost sight of behind the trees (on the right, at the back of the nest)
LR0 arrived back on the nest, at 19:35, without a fish
20:03 LR0 is still on the nest, occasionally fish calling
20:15 LR0 to the birch again
Another (probably LP8) joined him shortly after
20:20 The other left its perch, had a quick flight low over in that area then headed behind the birch (marked)
22:40 There were no more fish deliveries this evening and the nest has remained empty. From what I could tell, LR0 was on the same birch perch before night cam came on
17 August
First visitor (there were 2 for an instant but one blurred when the second arrived):

Both juvies just arrived, screeching - a fish must be in the offing, surely? Maybe not.
FISH !!! !!! !!!
One of the juvies had given up waiting, it flew in after the fish had already been claimed.

Morning Scylla and all,
I don't think my pic is much better (auto corrected). LR0 on the nest to receive the fish, LP8 incoming
Who flew over, and then past, the nest just after the delivery? LP8 tried to shoo a crow from the perch, it fled this other Osprey flew towards the nest
Intruder? flew over
Intruder? flying past
LR0 started to eat his breakfish
LP8 flew up at 6:52
LR0 eating his fish
LP8, shouting, flew off from the cam post and LR0 immediately took off with his fish at 7:13
LP8 made a direct right turn
LP8 back a little while after, making a few short calls on landing
While on the nest, LR0 came into view (and was very much heard) - it was being chased by an intruder
LP8 fled the nest
7:30 LR0 on the nest with his fish - being dive bombed!
Shouting as he landed on the nest
Intruder whizzed over LR0
The intruder swooped again
It then headed to the birch
LP8 arrived at the nest
Both became very agitated when the intruder flew from the birch (its reflection can be seen here)
When all appeared to be calm again, LR0 continued to eat his breakfish
