So, we now enter August knowing that we will only have the pleasure of watching this beautiful family all together for a limited number of weeks.Both LP8 and LR0 have transformed into two strong, independent individuals. Their attentive parents have continued to provide for and nurture them and this, in turn, has given the juveniles a basis to continue their growth into full adulthood, wherever they decide to settle during the next couple of years.Last season, NC0 began her southerly migration on the 22nd August; Laddie on the 25th (these dates were their last webcam sightings). We can only hope that all of the 2022 family have safe, unhindered journeys to warmer climes, aided by fair winds as well as an abundance of fish along the way, and that we will welcome Laddie and NC0 back to this stunning Loch of the Lowes location in the spring of 2023.

15.6.22: At 23 days old, chick #3 passed away
27.6.22: Our osprey chicks have been ringed! (Genders not able to be positively determined, ? both males)
Chick #1: LP8 (39 days old) - wing measurement = 360mm, weight = 1.5kg
Chick #2: LR0 (37 days old) - wing measurement = 315mm, weight = 1.44kg
Fledge dates: LP8 - 13.7.22 (10:06) 55 days old LR0 - 15.7.22 (13:55) 55 days old
Migration/Last Seen dates: NC0 - 11.8.22 Laddie - 26.8.22 LP8 (100 do) and LR0 (98 do) - 27.8.22

A headless whopper to LR0, from a fully cropped Laddie, at 19:14. LR0 must have seen Laddie approaching as he loudly vocalised, before landing on the empty nest in readiness to take the fish
19:39 LR0 continuing to eat his meal and, by the little squeals that he's making, is thoroughly enjoying it!

LR0 was still eating when LP8 came to the nest at 20:32
He finally gave up on the fish at 20:52 and, after a few flaps of his wings, left the nest
LP8 picked up the remaining fish
LR0 flying towards the birch. NC0, was already on her branch (I'd written something very similar yesterday evening but it was with regards to LP8! lol)
LR0 found his roosting spot
21:07 NC0 left the birch and made her way to the nest, landing on the perch
LP8 vocalised on her approach
At 21:29 LP8 swallowed the fish tail
After then picking up a couple of dropped morsels, LP8 left the nest and flew towards the birch area
LP8 didn't land on the birch but instead had a beautiful flight over the Loch and birch area. Then headed towards the nest but veered off to the left
LP8 came back into view from behind the birch area to continue its wonderful flight over the Loch. I then lost sight of it as it headed back low, beyond the birch
22:04 NC0 still on the perch
ENS tonight after NC0 left the nest perch at 22:07
7:35 LR0 arrived oto the nest quickly followed by LP8, who landed on the perch - both shouting for fish
Edit: LR0 flew off at 7:41
11:57 ENS at present.
LP8 spent well over an hour and a half on the nest (arriving at 10:15ish) and left at 11:51. There was an alarm call from one that was on the cam post, it was heard to fly away as well
There have been no fish deliveries to the nest (as far as I can tell on scroll back) and no visits from either NC0 or Laddie today so far
LP8 flew onto the nest and LR0 jumped down from the cam post at 13:58
14:07 Both juveniles on the nest at present, LP8 standing. They've been fish calling
Still no nest visits from either NC0 or Laddie
Fish from Laddie at 16:05. There was a brief hard fought battle between the juvies to take it! LP8 won

LP8 headed in to get hold of the fish
In all the melee, the fish dropped, LR0 bent down to pick up it up
LP8 picked it up in his beak
LR0's talons gripped the fish. Laddie headed off to get out of the juvie's way!
LP8 tugged to pull it out of LR0's grasp
And succeeded
LP8 had eaten all the fish at 16:29 - feaking its beak here
Another fish (perch) from Laddie at 18:05, LP8 won this one too! There hadn't been any other fish delivered between between this one and the last.

Laddie's poor talons got pulled again, the fish dropped close to LP8
LP8 picked up the fish
LP8 finished the fish at 18:27ish and flew from the nest. LR0 searched for some morsels and fish called
NC0 still hasn't showed herself at the nest
