Things continued to go well at the beginning of June and on the 4th, we celebrated a record nine fish delivery day from Laddie. During the following week, the number of fish brought to the nest took a sudden decline and with this, we witnessed chick #3 befalling to sibling aggression - first from chick #1 and then chick #2. Very sadly, this then led to the dear Osplet being blocked from getting close to NC0 for feeding. Devastatingly, after a very early fish delivery on the morning of the 15th June, the middle chick subjected the youngest to a severe attack from which, in its weakened state, it could not get up from. The little one passed away on the nest a few hours later at the age of 23 days old.

Subsequent to the passing of the youngest chick, fish deliveries from Laddie began to increase with him even outdoing his previous record by bringing an amazing ten to the nest on a single day. NC0 made her first dive from the split birch (since the chicks had hatched) on the 24th June and brought her catch back to the nest, much to the surprise of the chicks!The youngsters have continued to grow at an amazing rate and, on the evening of the 27th June - at the ages of 39 and 37 days old respectively - they were ringed. Their genders could not be determined. A milestone for the chicks was observed on the evening of the 29th June when both self-fed and the following day, LR0 showed its strength of character to successfully claim two fish!Hopefully, LP8 and LR0 will continue to do well and that we will witness their successful fledges this month.

15.6.22: At 23 days old, chick #3 passed away
27.6.22: Our osprey chicks have been ringed! (Genders not able to be positively determined, ? both males)
Chick #1: LP8 (39 days old) - wing measurement = 360mm, weight = 1.5kg
Chick #2: LR0 (37 days old) - wing measurement = 315mm, weight = 1.44kg
Fledge dates: LP8 - 13.7.22 (10:06) 55 days old LR0 - 15.7.22 (13:55) 55 days old

In Osprey Char, were you able to watch the "Ospreys on the crane" at the world championship athletics? Because since I posted it I can't watch ANY of my videos, they're all black with a white buffer squirly.
On my channel the video says "no restrictions", so I can't understand what's happened.

Hi Scylla, Yes I was able to watch that amazing piece of footage on the Osprey Chat thread
Edit: It's not showing on your YT channel and the vid on the OC thread now shows a message stating that it's 'private'

11:51 Laddie arrived at the nest, chipping. No fish with him
BTW, NC0 ate all of the remaining fish from earlier and left the nest at 9:40ish. It had been ENS up to the point of Laddie's arrival

Laddie left the nest at 12:09, flying above and beyond the birch
15:27 Laddie to an empty nest with a very small, 'live' perch. LR0 jumped down from the cam post to take it from him
A gust of wind lifted LR0
LP8 arrived
Both spread their wings
LR0 lifted up again (went out of cam view for a split second)
And flew off with the fish
He headed left out of cam view
LR0 must have completed a full anti-clockwise flight as he came back to the perch from the direction at the back of the nest, a short while after
Tucking in to the fish
15:40 LR0 swallowed the fish tail and, after a couple of minutes of resting on the perch, left the nest
16:18 Presently, LP8 is on the nest calling for fish
A long awaited fish delivery at 20:29. NC0 did the honours
LP8 was on the birch. NC0 flew round from beyond it. LR0 was on the cam post
LP8 left the birch in pursuit of NC0
LP8 headed further left, out of cam view for a split second
LR0 grabbed the small fish
NC0 left the nest, making what sounded like human alarm calls. Deer sounds could be heard close to the nest
She flew over to and beyond the birch area
LP8 stole the fish
It was flapping on the nest
The pair of them had a bit of a spat. The fish close to LR0's talons
LP8 picked up the fish
LP8 ate all of the fish

LP8 has been to the nest but at present (21:52) LR0 is alone and still eating
21:58 I've noticed that LR0 keeps opening and closing his beak, as if something is stuck in his throat. It hasn't stopped him from eating though
