I'm not following this closely at the mo, not wishing to agonise over finding signs of #4 and getting too involved.
Mama dropped pine onto a chick and settled without noticing it was there:

Mama brings in a sanitising spray, like she often does - but carelessly drops it on the chicks and one in particular got tangled up in it - I was worried about its eyes!

For several hours overnight the female stood by the chicks rather than brooded them, which she did for a while. In the morning she brought in another sprig, then a shaving of bark, then ? bird prey - here's just the start of the feed showing all chicks up and strong-looking:

Osplets, we have to admit, do go thru an unpretty stage - but not half as unpretty as Barn Owlets !!!
I dread to think how many Red Squirrels the Goshawks get thru in a year - yet another today 11th
