I think this will be an interesting season at Loch Arkaig - who is going to take residence is the big question?
For me it doesn't matter who, just as long as the nest is occupied.

C2 03.51.46 Just when it seemed like the attacks had stopped, and unusually late, nearly dawn, Dorcha takes a hard hit. Feathers are still flying as the owl is seen circling round and departing to the left.
(I've sent your pussycat playlist off to my friend, Geemeff.)
IMAGICAT
Gusting wind and a tricky stick cause problems for Dorcha
C2: This morning's crow was a very persistent Hoodie!
10.07 pops up and perches on the thick branch to the left of the nest. Dorcha mantles but the crow stays put.
10.10 hops up onto the centre perch very close to Dorcha, who rises, mantles, and alarm calls, but the crow merely looks down at her. 10.10.27 she lunges at it and it appears to fly away. However, it hasn't gone far, and at 10.10.42 it pops its head up over the edge of the nest! Dorcha moves forward, flaps strongly, and the crow disappears.
10.11.09 it's seen again, underneath the nest on the right hand side, moves out of camera view, then reappears at 10.11.30, with Dorcha alarm calling
10.12.00 finally departs - hopefully, think it might be back.
A Jay (Garrulus glandarius) visits the original nest 20.04 No problems with ID on this one! I love jays, I have a pair in my garden, plus I've kept a couple of their electric blue feathers which I found near their nest.
12.50 on - Dorcha deals with a persistent intruder Osprey
That's better! A stretch and a squirt help ease a long egg-sitting spell.
