12.7.21 - LR2 fledged at 53 days old, c17:40 Blog: LR2 fledges
From little 'fluff balls' to almost fully grown ospreys, LR1 and LR2 are doing amazingly well all thanks to the fantastic ongoing care from NC0 and Laddie (LM12). Not only have we seen Laddie providing fish for his family but NC0 has been successful several times just recently as well - what first-class parents they are! There continues to be the occasional intrusion from ospreys passing through, however, the nest and chicks have been protected outstandingly. We look forward to the next exciting phase in the young ospreys' development.

22:36 NC0 is on the perch, she's been there for around 20 minutes (her second perch visit late this evening)
23:03 Awww, now tucked in and sleeping
Morning all. For the record, NC0 spent the whole night on the perch.
Just after 5am, Laddie delivered a headless fish to LR2 who jumped onto the nest from the perch where he had been waiting
LR2 flew off with his fish
7:20 Laddie with another headless fish delivery, easily claimed by LR1
She ate on the nest for a little while then flew off with her fish
Good morning, Patily, you just missed Laddie's 8ish minutes visit to the nest. He mantled/chipped on landing (7:44ish), no threat seen

Activity from this morning (timings are approximate)
8:44 Laddie with a stick
LR2 made an appearance at the nest at 8:50 and Laddie flew off.
LR2 left the nest a few minutes afterwards
9:10 There was some activity over by the birch area with the youngsters testing the water, one made a spectacular splashdown to the left of the nest
9:26 Laddie to the nest with a clump of hay/moss. Both juveniles followed him thinking he had a fish
LR1 was the first youngster to leave once Laddie had gone, LR2 waited a bit longer before heading up to the cam post
9:53 NC0 with a fish. She stood there with it, taking some bites, for almost 10 minutes
10:12 LR2 came to claim the fish (he must have left the cam post prior to NC0's arrival)
He warned NC0 off
He took his fish off nest 10:12ish
NC0 stayed on the nest
She started to chip - unseen intruder - and left the nest at 10:52
At time of posting, it's been ENS since

A summary of activity this afternoon/evening (as usual, timings are approximate)
12:59 NC0 paid a fishless visit to the nest
13:05 LR2 landed on the perch, LR1 came to the nest shortly after
LR1 only stayed for about a minute or so before heading off
NC0 stayed until 13:25 after being subjected to LR2's fish calling
LR2 has been on and off the nest (fish calling) on quite a few occasions this afternoon
Between 16:23 and 16:27, there were 3 dives from at least one of the juveniles
1) From the area marked
2) Came from the same area
3) An unseen dive behind the left hand trees, but the splashdown was heard. Flying to the area...
Flight away
18:05 NC0 with a headless fish
LR2 inbound
He 'attacked' NC0 who then flew off
18:17 He tucked in for quite a while before leaving with the remainder of it
He took it over to the birch where NC0, and presumably LR1, were on the branches. He headed back towards the nest and landed above the cam
21:00 From what I can tell, LR2 has been on the nest just over 1 hour and 10 minutes
21:09 LR2 was fish calling when (possibly) LR1 flew past the nest from the lower birch area
21:11 LR2 flew off nest but has just arrived back on the perch, still calling
