12.7.21 - LR2 fledged at 53 days old, c17:40 Blog: LR2 fledges
From little 'fluff balls' to almost fully grown ospreys, LR1 and LR2 are doing amazingly well all thanks to the fantastic ongoing care from NC0 and Laddie (LM12). Not only have we seen Laddie providing fish for his family but NC0 has been successful several times just recently as well - what first-class parents they are! There continues to be the occasional intrusion from ospreys passing through, however, the nest and chicks have been protected outstandingly. We look forward to the next exciting phase in the young ospreys' development.
Lol, Patily!!
16:15 A fly-away by whoever was sitting above the cam
16:18 LR1 left the nest and headed towards the birch. She flew over another Osprey who was sitting on top of the left branch and then went out of view

Two fish deliveries
16:48ish First, a headless on from NC0 - LR1 took this and, after a couple of minutes of tucking in, took it off nest. NC0 had already left to go back to her birch branch
16:52
16:55 The second was a cracking sized fish from Laddie. LR2 was still on the nest to take it from him
17:24 LR2 still tucking into his fish
Just checking back while LR2 was eating, there was a possible unringed intruder on the nest (17:24ish)
Yes there was. An adult on the far left birch branch alarm called and flew from there prior to the intruder landing. There was then a chase!
Adult from birch (top left)
Alarm calling could be heard for a few minutes after the chase began, two shadows were also seen going across nest area
17:57 A headless fish from NC0, LR1 flew onto the nest (from the middle branch of the birch, behind the cam to land on the right side) and easily manged to take it. She took the fish off nest
NC0 found a discarded fish morsel within the nesting material
NC0 continued to eat a fish piece
19:51 A headless? fish from NC0. LR2 flapped down to the nest (he'd been sitting above the cam) and tried a couple of times to take the fish. NC0 decided that she would feed him instead!
Feeding stopped at 19:58, NC0 mantling/chipping
20:02 Threat over
20:03 Feeding continued
20:17 LR2 flew off with some nesting material in his talons
A little while after he'd left the nest, NC0 silently mantled - no threat seen
20:32 NC0 still on the nest in the evening sunlight
Aww, NC0 must have been waiting for one of her youngsters to come to the nest as, when she flew off just after 20:50, she had the tail end of fish in her left talons
It's been ENS since she left
