Absolutely delighted to have watched three precious eggs being laid. Laddie and NC0 have perfected their incubation duties and, through trying times during April, defended them and the nest from multiple intruding Ospreys.  Hopefully, it will not be too long until we see three chicks being cared for by their super parents.

  • 8:07 As well as looking skyward, NC0 has given a couple of bursts of chipping/alarm calls. No intruder seen

    I must go. BFN

  • NC0 has had a couple of comfort breaks this morning where she left the eggs unattended for a couple of minutes each time. I couldn't find any visits by Laddie until he delivered a very large headless fish at 11:15ish

    11:55 Laddie continues to incubate

  • An afternoon catch up

14:40 Laddie brought a stick to the nest and then took over incubation while NC0 had a break (she has had a few of these today and has left the eggs unattended for short periods)

16:45 Laddie made a few contact calls and left the nest (great to see a better view of the eggs now!)

NC0 took flight from the birch to the nest

NC0 was caught in a heavy downpour of rain, this taken at 18:27

19:10 She had a good flap of her wings and left the nest again, coming back just over a minute later

20:35 She has been fish calling (and still doing so)

  • 20:44 Headless fish delivered

Laddie decided to move a stick from the back to the front of the nest

20:50 Laddie having a rest, NC0 is on the birch eating her supper

  • 21:45 Laddie looking as handsome as ever

NC0 is still on the middle branch of the birch

  • 21:50 NC0 returned to start her overnight incubation duty

After a couple of flaps of his wings, he took flight heading towards the birch

He did land there but then took another flight around in that area before settling on the middle branch

  • The nest/scene looking and sounding idyllic. NC0 still incubating
  • Good morning Patily and all
Laddie relieved NC0 at 4:55ish this morning and spent almost an hour incubating.

He made a contact call before leaving then NC0 came to the nest, via the birch area, a minute or so later

Laddie flew in with a small stick a little while after she'd settled on the eggs. He kept NC0 company for a few minutes before taking off again (6:00 ish)

  • 7:48 A quick check of the eggs and a change of position for NC0

  • Checking through the footage since this morning, Laddie has had his fair share of incubating. There have also been a few times where he has come to the nest chipping/alarm calling - no intruder was seen on any of those occasions. I haven't seen a fish delivered as yet.

Laddie did add a stick (placed at the front) and a clump of hay to the nest this morning
