LOCH ARKAIG (c)The Woodland Trust - MAY 2019

Serene at this moment ;)

  • First FISH - it looked as tho Aila had gone chasing him for it some minutes before he brought it to the nest:

A lovely feather display from Aila - I wasn't sure if it was deliberate or not:

    Another twiggy stick:

The arrival of the next stick was buffered out, but Louis had just done some sorting when Aila gave him this look and off he flew:

No fish yet, tho - another stick, with which Louis disturbed Aila - it didn't get her up, off he flew:

The next stick, a really awful one, didn't show up very well but thankfully went over the side in the end:

Second FISH - impossible to get a good shot:

It's under his foot here, and an excuse to post the wings ;)

Aila returned with bark in her left foot:

Louis brought small stick and dumped it on Aila but she wouldn't leave so off he flew:

Then another one was piled onto Aila but it got shifted - these sticks either blur on the way in or they're camouflaged on the nest, dang!

That was Louis's last appearance up to now - how busy he has been!

    All quiet on the nest.

  • According to me, scrolling thru quite fast and allowing for buffers, it's been an undisturbed night for Aila.

Ooh! Nightcam (but I'm not going to start recording it):

    Our morphing night flyer:

Rain, it only showed up when she changed position so don't know how long it had been going on:

  • Looking peaceful As soon as Aila closes her eyes, she opens them again to look ahed
  • Aila's routine refresher flight:

    Mist drifting left to right:

Here's Louis to take over from Aila, who's just flown:

    A trip?

Aila with bark, she flew off again after Louis didn't get up:

    Next, her almost-fave nest sanitisers:

This time she made a nuisance of herself so Louis would get up:

Accidentally on purpose tripped over him, moving a stick:

It worked and off he flew:

He returned with a small licheny stick (not snappable) and proceeded to plonk things onto Aila but she wouldn't get up so he flew:

We now have Aila preening in the rain - or maybe it's not raining now :-/

  • Louis brought a good cot-rail!

    Aila let Louis take over:

Aila brought something small in her right 'fist':

Put some bits onto Louis's tail and sorted some bits, no response:

    So she flew:

Back with another piece of bark!  She shifted some sticks and flew again:

Next - a big piece of bark:

And a big stick did the trick:

Let's hope there'll be a settled period now (apart from fish delivery!), cos I'm off and don't want a lot to catch up on later ;)

  • A fine whole fish for Aila - but she's slow to leave with it... gone now.

    EDIT - A slim one.

  • Aila is back, waiting for Louis to get up.
  • Must track how/why the osprey got on the robin's perch :o
  • How Aila got on the perch - she saw someone I couldn't see:

  • 13.18 approx, Louis brings in a headless but good sized Salmon (pink fleshed anyway). Ian
