Mike, here is the intro. Thanks. Karen
Last season Maya, the resident Manton Bay female, surprised us arriving back 12 March the earliest date ever recorded at a UK public nest. The resident male, Blue 33(11), her mate since 2015, arrived two days later on 14 March and the pair successfully raised two healthy chicks. More details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Here’s wishing Maya and Blue 33 a safe journey home and for another successful season.

Birdies LG DU update.
Maya was off again returning with a small stick.
And then to work - places the stick and then scraping. She really is quite enthusiastic this morning!

I have read on River Gwash FB that there is one other ringed osprey back but has not been +ID. It was sighted fishing yesterday and it was not Blue 25 as seemingly she was reported at her nest site as was Maya. So another back and hopefully one of the photographers will ID.
Maya has been on the nest, took off and just returned with a large clump of what I think was hay.
Maya arriving with a large clump
and then a scrape
And she is off again. At this rate there will be no work for 33 to do :-D
Back she comes with a large stick
and places it
PS The quality seems really poor, quite grainy, when D&D and then enlarged. I think upload is a bit better?
MIKE: could you do me a favour please ?
When we click on the RF button to format text\post captures, the opening post shows above the text box.
Could you, at the end of the opening intro, post the copyright notice ie © Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust that, if required, we could just copy it and paste it under any captures we post.
Maya looking up and a little mantle - is someone around?
She has now flown.
