I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
PATILY - You may also be interested to know that White YU full brother (2007) was White YV (2007) and was the breeding male at Bassenthwaite 2012 (Only 1 Year) producing White 13 (tagged osprey) that year. We did not see his return in 2013 so do not know what happened.
Maybe Mrs did not like breeding with her son.
Thanks KEITH Will make a note of all the info later
It's good to know that No Ring's family is continuing in the Lake District. He and Green SX were the first pair to colonise England naturally.

A newspaper article about the Tweed Valley nest here. Nothing really newsworthy tho. I can't find any info about eggs laid however. I am sure I read somewhere that the first one appeared on 21 April, so the second would probably have been laid yesterday or expected today.

HILARY J - When I consulted my records at Bassenthwaite today for Patily's query I was also pleased to read the connection of Esthwaite Water to the first natural colonisation of England.
The stories now coming out of The Lake District and Kielder are music to an osprey watchers ear.
keith I couldnt agree with you more. Its like a wonderful concert isnt it? Ive just read the part in a Life of Ospreys about the Rutland Water project and the first ospreys in Bassenthwaite and a mention about the ospreys in wales in 2004!!! all of which made me beam from ear to ear :-)

Over 100 hours between eggs. Something of a record if you ignore Hellgate Canyon last year.
