Hi all, having got you identifying pictures for me I suppose I'd better introduce myself. Forgive me if you've already seen a form of this post in the Hello forum.
I've just joined the forum having started birding 6 months ago (comparatively late in life).
I've been visiting Old Moor regularly over that time, and I have to say that with each visit I feel more and more that it's becoming a spiritual home - I feel totally relaxed and at peace there.
One of the major things that makes it special for me (apart from the birds of course!) is the wonderful staff, who are never anything other than cheerful, polite and attentive. However many daft questions you throw at them you can't phase them in any way!
I have to say a special thank you to Steve, who the other morning met me before opening time and personally escorted me on to the site to discuss an issue I had with a recently-purchased pair of binoculars. His patience and advice was greatly appreciated, and I came away a very happy and satisfied customer.
Hi See Gull, I couldn't agree more about OM and the staff there. I always get a friendly welcome and it's a great place to be.

We strive to make Old Moor a friendly place so I'm really please you have had some positive experiences.
Hopefully we can continue to help you on your birding journey (I envy you - all those new species to see!!)

Hi See Gull, I discovered Old Moor about three or four months ago - it is about a forty minute drive away from me, so not too far. I really like the reserve too and have to agree about the friendliness of the staff. I have been back four or five times now and will continue to visit fairly regularly.
This forum is a good place to visit - so many regulars you soon feel as though you know everyone and there is always someone about to identify any birds and give advice on anything and everything,
Happy birdwatching!

Thanks all for your comments. I have been delighted by the welcome and response I have received from the forum - I've learned so much in such a short space of time, and yet there's so much more to learn and look forward to.
I'm really looking forward to retiring from work and being able to spend more time on this fantastic hobby!
