I have had a couple of trips this weekend to the Oldmoor reserve - couldn't resist going back this afternoon as it was such a lovely day and managed to see plenty - old favourites and a couple of new species for me.
The colours in the sunlight were just beautiful and the sheer numbers of birds quite a spectacle:
There is a snipe in the next one - a first for me!
Green sandpiper - another first for me.

I think I must have run out of space in the post! I was just going to say that I've taken so many photos this weekend, but thought that was enough for now! It's been a good weekend for birdwatching.
Thanks for the suggestion Alan - I can feel another day out coming on! There are an awful lot of places to visit in your area aren't there?
We are lucky that we get Snipe in winter on a little wetland a few hundred yards from home and they seem to spend a lot of tim in the open despite it being near a footpath.Nice pictures from Old Moor,we really enjoyed our first visit there a few weeks ago,the cafe was good too !!

Thank you Tree Sparrow and Aiki. The light was just beautiful on the Saturday - it really did make the plovers look golden!
What a fabulous variety of birds Christine. Your photos are superb - love the heron and the teal especially.
Cheers, Linda.
