Hi All,
Me and wife Jan visited Old Moor today and had a very enjoyable day and learnt something with the help of other wildlife enthusiasts.
Arrived home about 4-30pm putting gear away in bedroom when jan shouted me to come in kitchen, got to kitchen window and this little beauty was sat on fence at bottom of garden.
Camera is Panasonic Lumix TZ8 Compact, 12Mp 12x optical zoom it was about 25 ft away from kitchen window.
A very nice shot of a female Sparrowhawk. Not sure why the image came out so small because when you open it in a new window it enlarges to a decent size.
Glad you had a good day out

An optimist sees the beauty of the complete rose.A pessimist sees only the thorn .
Hi TJ, Could be my fault regarding size TJ, when I uploaded the photo it asked me for a size in a box what popped up and I thought there would be a maximum regarding size so I went on small side.
Hi Alan, thanks for your kind comments really enjoyed the visit and will be going again on Saturday.
Regards Roy & Jan.
Hi Alan, thanks for the link regarding sizes.
Regards Roy.
Hi Sheena, glad you like the pic I clicked on it myself after uploading and it enlarged so I was pleased it worked ok.
Hi Bob, I was very surprised it stayed around long enough, as a rule I just see it flying over the fence and past the bird feeders into the next garden.
I was watching one this morning from the hide but too far away for a compact camera.
Hi again
Glad you enjoyed Old Moor.
Nice shot of the Sprawk. We ringed all young for about 4years on the plant before I left. so could well be a descendant. They produced 4 young every year.
Been up on Rabbit Ings at Royston watching the Short Eared owls tonight, there are 2 of them.

Nice photo... Normally the ones that visit our garden zoom in, check out the garden for food and then fly off at high speed. However, occasionally, they just stick around for a while on the fence (allowing me to find the camera and take a shot!)...maybe it is when they are full of sparrow so have more time on their hands (or wings!),
