I spotted a party of Goosanders floating along the River Don at Meadowhall this morning as I was on my way to work. About 7 or 8 of them, male and female.
I spotted them in the same area last year so I am glad they are back - lovely birds.
Lovely birds indeed. The males especially are very handsome.
Sounds like they are probably passing through on the their way back to breeding grounds.
Nice sighting

We've been lucky to have quite a number in the northwest this winter.

Yes, lovely birds. I spotted one on the Don in Sheffield city centre about a couple of weeks ago.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

They were back on the Don at Meadowhall again this lunchtime - 3 males and 2 females. Appeared to be displaying.
Also close encounter with a buzzard on the way home this evening - it took off from the trees on the road from Wentworth to Brampton - plumage all lit with the strong cross lighting - brilliant! :-)
