There were plenty of birds up for the game of "land on the moving feeder" today at Old Moor, and very well they did too, as the wind blew them back and forth. The Mere was looking more like a small sea, but with plenty of birds including 2 smart male Pintails and a lady Goldeneye. Wath Ings hide was rattling with the wind and the water was anything but calm, as you can see.
The Bitterns were either not at home or staying wrapped up their comfy reedbeds and who can blame them. The Grebes seemed absent as well until late afternoonwhen I did see one.
It was nice to see a bit of sun later, and the appearance of the Kingfisher made up for the fact that it rained later.
All in all, another lovely day at Old Moor.

Oh noooooo, Alan, I've got to go to work on Tuesday - unless it's bad enough to disrupt public transport - them I'll be down Rother Valley like last year!
