This was spotted at Dearne Valley Old Moor on 20th August, and I think it's a Buzzard but am not 100%. There were 2 of them actually, and the photos aren't brilliant but enough for someone to see what it is.
Also, is http://www.jjphotos.co.uk/blog/index.php?showimage=74 this a lapwing? I think it is.
Thanks
Jeremy
Hi Jeremy
It looks more like a Female Marsh harrier to me than a Buzzard.

Marsh harrier - nice photo of one too!

Thanks for the confirmation. My mate who was with me said he thought it could have been, but my RSPB book says they are rare in Britain, but it also says they can be mistaken for Buzzards too! I'm quite fussy so to me they aren't too good as photos as they were a bit far away, but thanks for the comment, KatTai. I prefer the top one but included both in case they helped identify it.
love the marsh harriers .. glad they have been spotted at old moor
