Old Moor 29th September

Had a cracking late afternoon/early evening stroll round Old Moor today, in perfect (for the time of year) weather and light. Here are just a few shots of sights not often seen here. I decided to start at the far end of Green Lane for a change and the first hide I went in was Field Pool East. The view was not what I expected!

Yes, as we have been warned essential maintenance is taking place - but it is clear to see that when finished the views from this hide will be greatly improved as the birds will be much nearer.

All was not lost however, as there were still birds to be seen - notably the Great White Egret, who wasn't at all phased by the noisy machinery.

Moving on to Wath Ings and among a large contingent of Canada and Greylag Geese were three Pink foots/feet

And finally I was delighted to spot a Cormorant basking in the sunshine right in front of me. These are by no means unusual birds at OM but they are usually only seen at a distance.

Thanks for looking
