Recent sightings for Friday 26th March.

The method of adding the Recent Sightings has had a make-over so I,m hoping that you are reading this !!

 

A walk around Old Moor after work produced plenty to see as normal.

 

The Field Pool had lapwings, redshanks, coots, moorhens, teals, wigeons, tufted ducks, shovelers, mallards, a little grebe, stock doves, woodpigeons, Canada geese, pheasants and black-headed gulls.

Over on Wath Ings were pochards, tufted ducks, gadwalls, wigeons, mallards, 2 shelducks, 2 little grebes, 2 great-crested grebes, coots, moorhens, ringed plovers, redshanks, oystercatchers, Canada geese, lapwings, a pied wagtail, sand martins, pheasants and black-headed gulls.

The Wader Scrape had mute swans, goosanders, mallards, gadwalls, wigeons, tufted ducks, shovelers, coots, moorhens, oystercatchers, ringed plovers, redshanks, Canada geese, lapwings, black-headed and common gulls, a lesser black-backed gull, pheasants, woodpigeons and stock doves.

The Mere had mallards, gadwalls, teals, tufted ducks, goldeneyes, wigeons, a little grebe, coots, moorhens, mute swans, cormorants, oystercatchers, redshanks, greylag geese, Canada geese, wood pigeons, stock doves, pheasants and jackdaws.

The garden feeder are was quiet but still had chaffinches, greenfinches, willow tits, great tits and blue tits.

The sacrificial crop area was also quiet, present were linnets, chaffinches, goldfinches, reed buntings, great tits and blue tits.

 

In other areas ..

Wombwell Ings had 10 redshanks and 2 little-ringed plovers.

Bolton Ings had 2 red-crested pochards present, one male and one female.

Gypsy Marsh had a willow warbler which is the earliest on record for here .
