Ok, I've been meaning to post this for a few days now and finally got round to it. I was walking back up through our estate in the Dearne Valley one evening enjoying the super singing of all the blackbirds - one every few hundred metres it seemed letting forth their lovely evening song.
Then another caught my attention, perched on a TV aerial - it was singing a completely different style of tune which I can only describe as syncopated and like jazz - it was 3 phrases of short, long, and short notes followed by a long final blast and then repeated. I'm no musician but something like CEG CEG CEG high C!
Has anyone else noted birds singing jazz? (or blues maybe? :-) )
