Looking at the various threads covering conditions last Friday week, it seems hard to believe that the shots below were taken just two days later. The conditions were almost perfect!
Firstly the dry side, and a great start with a male Bullfinch on the Car Park feeders
The ubiquitous Robin
Magpie
pair of Reed Buntings
Wood Pigeon
and, where there's food...
Turning to the wetside, welcome to Lapwing Island
and just next door a share, Lapwings and Golden Plovers
Wigeon male...
...and, I think, female
Black headed Gull
Overhead a cormorant
Lapwing and I think a dozing Snipe
and finally a dryside bird having some fun in the water
Move over kid...
I'm in charge now!
Thanks for looking
Ian
Hi Ian, great to look at your photos - it's been a few weeks now since I was at Old Moor (too much dashing around getting ready for Christmas on my day off!) and I'm starting to get withdrawal symptons. Must make time to have a trip there again before Christmas actually arrives. Love the bulfinch - haven't seen one of those for a while now and the reed buntings, and the hordes of golden plovers and lapwings are always a beautiful sight.

Great pictures Ian. The Crows remind me of the time I saw some on the frozen mere trying to peck through the ice to get some water.

Thanks for posting - there's always something to catch your eye at OM no matter what the weather. :-)
Nice story to go with some lovely pictures, my favourite being the Robin nestled in the tree tops against a deep blue sky. Thanks for sharing.
