Bolton Ings

Hello,while cycling around Bolton Ings this morning I saw 3 beautiful fallow deer,what a nice way to start a day,(hope they are around the same area tomorrow)

    I hope you don't mind me asking - just wanting to check they were fallow deer and not roe deer.

    We have records of the latter but fallow would be new for the reserve and there are not any regular herds nearby.

    Of course, these could be moving through but would be very unusual. Given it would be a new addition to the reserve list, we tend to double check such records with observers.

    Hope that is okay

    Hello Matthew (sorry for the late reply)

    After double checking I am now 100% That the 3 deer I saw were ROE deer and not fallow deer as I thought,I was around the same area first thing this morning but unfortunately I did not see much at all only a beautiful sunrise.

    I hope this information is a help with your records.

    Brill, yes thanks Pete. Will add them to the reserve records and also submit them to the local records centre (any deer records are notable in the Barnsley area).
