Hi all
Happily retired Bob suggested that if I put a new blog out, it wouldn't be seen by everyone so just a quick post to point you in the direction if you are interested

Hi Bob
Stuff that staff put out like the reedbed post and the recent sightings are meant to be blogs - but I can see your frustration.
I've no idea why it happens but I will get in touch with the web team at HQ and see what they say.
I'll let you know what I find out
First of all I have to say thank you Matthew for your brilliant blog and update on the reedbed project at Old Moor. Next I must ask you to please, please keep posting such information on our local community site. Yes, of course it is important that such information is made available to the global community, but the local 'family' community must have priority when it comes to ease of access to local information. I for one don't want to have to search on a global community site for blogs, forums and photographs concerning Old Moor, otherwise, what's the point in having an Old Moor site?
I think Mathew's solution will work fine.
I agree with Mike though that I too don't really want to trawl through a mass of other posts looking for OM/DV stuff... but then again, I'm not a birder exactly - more interested in watching and photographing our local wild life and countryside.
Hi everyone
Second blog post added on the reedbed work -
www.rspb.org.uk/.../what-s-happening-in-the-reedbeds-part-2-improving-the-habitat-at-old-moor.aspx
Just to add my thoughts to this! Dearne Valley is my 'local' RSPB reserve and the more I go, the more I want to go! It's a lovely place to be, always friendly people in the hides ready to help me with ids when required, and always friendly staff on hand. Despite being my 'local' RSPB reserve, it's still a 70 mile round trip for me so I only get there every 2-3 weeks.
I'm always interested to see what is going on there though and so have added the local Old Moor site to 'my Favourites' and also the Community Forum as well, because I do like to see where others have been in the Community and have had several ideas on places to visits from reading other peoples' posts, not to mention loads of help in identifying different bird species etc. And I generally enjoy having a look at what everyone else has been photographing and where! I don't read each and every thread - just the ones that appeal to me, but that way I'm, getting the best of both worlds and feel part of the wider community since it feels you are getting to know quite a few of the regular characters!!.
Whenever I have posted a thread on the Old Moor site, it does appear on the main Community page too, although of course it is quite quick to disappear as there is so much elsse going on as well! For me, it's good to have both sites, as they both serve different purposes. The only downside that I can see is that if someone makes a post in a local site that I will probably never get to, it means having to join that site as well in order to respond to the post.
Just glad the forums are there, to share a common interest with everyone!

I so agree with you Christine.
I am totally new to this, follow my local site,Dearn Valley, 30 minutes away, and Leighton Moss 3 hours away, keep an eye on both sites, blogs, forum pictures, and the "main" site too.
My 2p worth, this site, the forum(s) are a great source of information, and the ability to see and read what others are doing miles away is fantastic.
Apart from all else, it is free too.
I don't like it,,,I love it.
My flickr pictures,my web pictures,Is it better to sit quietly ,and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth, and remove all doubt.
