A wet and windy day with low light! Not the best weather for taking pictures...however the wildlife at Old Moor did not disappoint.
I spent the full day in Wath Ings hide, with friends and meeting new friends.
A quiet start to the day and then the spoonbill did its regular up, away and fly around after hiding behind the central trees n shrubbery all day.
Then it was to battle as two herons fought over territory and it was spectacular to see them charging each other then going into flight to continue the battle. You will see from the image attached it did get pretty heavy with one heron kicking out at the other!!
Next up was a graceful Swan, powerful in flight and a truly beautiful specimen
Then there was the quieter side of Wath Ings with waders and Lapwings just going about their everyday rummaging.
The highlight of the day had to be when the sparrowhawk flew in twice and cleared the whole community of water and land!!!! Yep, in 1 swoop!
No casualties so all spared!
A question, can we sort the web site so it can accept larger or higher resolution images at all? Just an enquiry, not a complaint.
So you did get a sparrowhawk pic after all Cris! Such a grey day but you've got some great photos despite the weather. Love the spoonbill in flight and the herons battling it out. And a bit clearer godwit than mine! Will have to post a few of mine up later in the day.

Great set of photos Cris, I was there at the weekend and saw a few herons, and at one stage an egret flew over and approached one of them. I expected a few feathers to fly but it didn't happen - perhaps they were colluding.
