Hi
My wife and I went to old moor this morning, our first visit to any rspb site.
We were met at the door, literally , by 3 young ladies, 3 of the most helpful people we have ever met.
They took time to explain the different route, the hides, what we may expect to see, in the way of both wildlife in general, birds of course and plants and flowers too.
They also explained the role, and functionality of the rspb.
We went out of there feeling like we were the Queen and her Husband.
My big regret is I cannot remember there names.
We joined the RSPB today.
We had a walk round, and went in most of the hides, saw more species of birds than we have ever seen in one day before.
Flowers, fruits, dragonflies, you name it, we pretty much saw it.
Everyone we met, made us feel at home, welcome and we already have made new friends, I am sure.
We went for food, again this was an amazing experience, the staff there were welcoming in a warm and sincere way, the food, well what can I say it was superb, better than some 5* hotel restaurants we have eaten in.
All in all an excellent experience, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you that has made today so special for us.
My flickr pictures,my web pictures,Is it better to sit quietly ,and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth, and remove all doubt.
Old moor is a great place, and the staff are really friendly, and it is well layed out, the restaurant is really good with great food.
To each their own
Glad you and your wife enjoyed it so much Steve. I visited Old Moor for the first time towards the end of last year and have been back several times now, and always find everyone really friendly and helpful, and with different things to see at different times of year.

Glad you found Old Moor and have joined up! It is a superb place and the staff are great - Nobody gets through that front door without their getting a cheery welcome! :-)
@doggie - lol Alan - recognise that very branch (and the kingfisher of course!)
Thank you for your kind comments - and even more for your membership! We couldn't look after this special place and others like it, without you. So keep visiting and see what you're looking after now.... :)
I always go there when I come back to Yorkshire it is a wonderful place. The staff are always welcoming and I imagine many are volunteers.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it Steve. I love the place, not just for the wildlife, but the friendly people both staff and visitors.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
